You will have the opportunity to ask anything you always wanted to know about sign language interpreting! We will also share and discuss cooperation between sign and spoken language interpeters and provide you with any latest updates and information in the field.
We will start at 18.00 hours and end at 19.15 hours.

Six years ago, ADICA (the Argentine Association of Conference Interpreters) decided to celebrate the ‘Conference Interpreters’ Day’ on November 20th, a significant date because on that very day, in 1945, the Nuremberg Trials began and simultaneous interpretation appeared center stage before the world.
This year, for the very first time, the celebration will take place in two cities: Buenos Aires and Madrid. Let’s hope that soon other countries join the initiative and maybe, some day, we’ll be able to get November 20th declared as the International Conference Interpreters’ Day!Read More

Resolution 402 passed at the AIIC Assembly in Valencia is now online. In the resolution AIIC states that conference interpreters use spoken and/or sign languages: "All of AIIC members are conference interpreters, engaged in conference interpreting, irrespective of whether they do so by means of spoken languages only, sign languages only, or a combination of both"Read More
VEGA is the AIIC worldwide network of professional conference interpreters dedicated to helping budding and junior interpreters. On 10 February 2018 they are hosting an event in Bogota and for the first time in VEGA history are happy to have sign language interpreters attend as well. Sign language interpretation will also be offered during the event for the deaf participants who also attending.Read More

The members of the network meet from 9.00 and 10.30 to discuss the latest developments and preparations for the GA in regard to sign language interpreters and the network. If you are not a member and would like to listen in, you are more than welcome to join as an observer.
At 11.00 we have an open meeting till 12.30 for all to learn more about conference sign language interpreters. In July 2017 the Panamanian Association of Sign Language Interpreters welcomed over 200 participants for the 3rd Latin American conference of sign language interpreters.
